About Us

The Medical Clinic Millicent is an AGPAL accredited Medical Practice which comprises of full-time, part-time, registrar and student doctors. Our doctors are all trained in many aspects of medicine and have a broad range of skills in acute and chronic care.

Services available at the Medical Clinic Millicent Include: regular check ups, family planning, pap smears, pregnancy tests, vaccinations, skin checks, Diabetes and Asthma reviews, minor surgical procedures and many others.

Our practice is also accredited as a training practice by the RACGP which means that on occasions we have newly qualified doctors working with us for a six to twelve month period. We also have a number of specialists who consult from our premises. When necessary, we are able to draw on opinion from Specialists and if need be, refer you for further investigation. We are an RACGP/AGPAL accredited practice, and also a teaching practice of Flinders University.

We are committed to providing the best acute and preventative care possible. As part of this, you may be contacted as a reminder about preventative care (e.g. pap smears, vaccinations) as appropriate. Please let us know at reception If you do not wish to be part of this system.

Practice Fees

The Medical Clinic Millicent is a private general practice. Fees are payable in full at the end of your consult by cash, cheque, eftpos, credit card. Please ensure you forward to the practice any Medicare cheques you have that are payable to your doctor. Failure to pay accounts on time will lead to extra administration charges.  If you are experiencing financial difficulties then please speak to the Practice Manager in regard to an alternative payment option; you could be eligible for Centrepay or instalments.

 

Standard level B consult   –  $94.00 paid on the day of consult or $99.00 if not paid on the day.     $5.00 discount applies when paid on the day.

Long  level C consult          –  $145.00 paid on the day of consult or $145.00 of not paid on the day. $5.00 discount applies when paid on the day.

Extra long level D consult –  $189.00 paid on the day of consult or $194.00 if not paid on the day. $5.00 discount applies when paid on the day.

Pensioners and Children 15 years and under are bulk billed between the hours of 8.00am – 6.00pm Monday to Friday. Any time outside of these hours you will be charged the full fee.

Health Care Card Holders will be charged a discounted gap of $30.00 plus the medicare amount between the hours of 8.00am – 6.00pm Monday to Friday. Any time outside of these hours you will be charged the full fee.

PLEASE NOTE: We do not bulk bill on Saturday mornings or for URGENT on the day appointments.   These appointments are full fee only.

If you hold a current Medicare card most visits are eligible for a Medicare rebate. This can be obtained at the reception desk after you have paid.  Ask reception staff to send your claim through our Tyro machines.  Your rebate will be in your account in seconds.

Other fees:

Other fees may be payable on the day.  This could include items such as vaccines, dressings, and equipment sterilisation fees for any minor surgery that is done.  Please ask reception for details.

Some consults are non-claimable through Medicare, please see list below.

  1. Heavy Vehicle driver’s license medicals (commercial)
  2. Medical examinations (insurance purposes)
  3. Employment medicals
  4. Workcover claims
  5. People who do not hold a current Medicare card (e.g. overseas traveller)
  6. Medical supplies.  (bandages, plasters, etc)
  7. Fax, copy and postage costs
  8. Did not attend fees  (charged to you if you miss or do not cancel your appointment $75.00)

Test Results

If you are having important tests done, e.g. blood tests or xrays, it is just as important that you return to get your results.  The best and preferred method is to obtain your results by booking a follow-up appointment with your doctor. This can be made on the day you have your tests done or soon after.

At times when the practice is short on available appointments due to doctor shortages, you may be asked to call the practice for the results. You will then be placed in a call back queue and the practice nurse will return your call at a convenient time to give the result to you.

 

 

Interpreter Service

If you need an interpreter this service can be arranged for you at the time of booking your appointment. Please speak to the Reception staff and inform them of the language you require and they can then book a phone interpreter for you for your consult.  The practice uses TIS National Interpreter Service.

The practice also uses the National Relay Service.

Home visits/Nursing Home visits

  • Home visits can be arranged via the personal assistant of each doctor. Attending a home visit is at the discretion of the doctor and they will deem whether or not it is necessary. In general, doctors prefer not to treat patients at home and prefer them to attend the  practice as we have a full range of facilities available.
  • Nursing home visits are done on a regular basis to both Boneham Aged Care Services and Sheoak Lodge by our doctors.  Visit days are Tuesdays and Thursdays and also any other times when required.

 

 

Complaints

All complaints should be directed to the Practice Manager of The Medical Clinic Millicent.  You can do this by either making a time to meet with her, writing to her or emailing admin@mcmillicent.com.au. The Medical Clinic Millicent will endeavour to resolve any issue you may have directly.  Our practice also has a complaints box adjacent to reception and also a suggestion box located at reception for any ideas or improvements you may like to inform us of.

However, if you feel your complaint cannot be resolved then you can forward your compliant to the Health Complaints commissioner  on 1800 232 007.

New Patients

Due to limited appointment availability, the Medical Clinic Millicent is only able to take on new patients that reside in the postcode areas of 5280, 5275 and 5272.  Proof of residency will need to be shown to reception staff ie drivers licence.

Urgent Doctor Appointments

The Medical Clinic Millicent has limited appointments available each day for URGENT consults.

Request details are taken by reception staff; a brief description of symptoms, pain level  etc and a nurse triages these appointments according to urgency and appointment availability via a return phone call to the patient.

These appointments WILL NOT be bulkbilled or discounted, including for children, pension, concession card holders and DVA.

You can receive a Medicare rebate for these appointments.

Failure to attend your appointment will result in an account for the full fee.
